Three Client Quotes

Alfred Nobel:

I intend to leave after my death a large fund for the promotion of the peace idea, but I am skeptical as to its results.

Jacques Yves Cousteau:

If we were logical, the future would be bleak indeed. But we are more than logical. We are human beings, and we have faith, and we have hope.

Keith Campbell:

We are not all mad scientists. We are not all looking to clone ourselves. The positive benefits that this may have for human therapeutic medicine and improving the quality of life for people with certain genetic disorders.

FINAL DEVELOPED SKETCH UP MODEL

ABOVE STUDIO:
ARTIST: Rosalie Gascoigne
WORD: Scrap (noun)
DESCRIPTION: My idea of 'scrap' is represented through a building design that is made of random shaped and sized blocks stacked against each other haphazardly, and rising out of an elevated landscape, allowing the structure to appear as though its been discarded out on a deserted terrain. This compliments the fact that much of Gascoigne's artworks consist of discarded objects, which she gathers on scavenging trips out on the Australian landscape. I felt a good way to display her artwork is through making the actual art be a part of structure, as well as having random shaped objects lying around the building displaying images of the artwork. This again emphasizes the idea of 'scrap' being represented by the random placement and structure of objects.
MATERIALS: This structure would mostly be constructed with concrete and metal, with textures and artworks covering some of the surfaces. Glass is used for the two large windows which close up the sides of the building.

BELOW STUDIO:
ARTIST: Fiona Hall
WORD: Replicate (verb)
DESCRIPTION: I've represented the idea of 'replication' through designing a space that is very neat and organized, and continually repeats a certain aspect throughout the underground building. Such an aspect, is the staircase, which has an L shaped step that has been repeated extensively and is noticeable from anywhere within the building. Visitors can view the entire structure and its replicating staircase from the amphitheater, which also again uses the same staircase, doubling as a seating area. I've used the same texture on the two identical side walls, and decided to only use black and white colours throughout the structure, this helps to emphasize the idea of 'replication'. Another aspect of 'replication' is shown through the artworks which I've displayed each three times over in glass cabinets on the far wall.
MATERIALS: This structure will also mostly be constructed out of concrete, and perhaps metal beams to add extra support for the staircases, then is layered with a black and white pavement. The two identical large walls are covered by one of my texture designs.
